You forgot to mention when sixteen year old Frank Dux was secretly training ninjutsu with Tiger Tanaka in Japan, he had to turn down his acceptance to Star Fleet Academy and break up with the beautiful, highly intelligent Mary Sue. She was naturally devastated, but Dux is such a selfless person and it was all a carefully calculated personal sacrifice. His ninja vanishing allowed Mary Sue to eventually become top of her class and save Earth from Klingons while Dux stayed behind to dismantle criminal syndicates from the shadows!

Sorry but Bruce Lee was a fun actor and a good choreographer but I've never seen anything that suggests he was a a real fighter. He never had real fights. Never won anything. It's all mystique, rumor and stories. That's it. People treat Lee like Dux's fanatics treat Dux. No different except that Frank's claims are easier to debunk because of the kind of lies they were. All we hear about Bruce is how awesome he was...with nothing to show for it. Meanwhile, we have decades of filmed, verified fights by incredible fighters from guys like Joe Lewis & Ali & Benny the Jet all the way through Tyson and the Gracies to modern day combatants. It really seems like snake-oil to me. Where's the proof? Bruce Lee's fights and fight skill all seems like a bunch of people repeating how hot Bruce Lee's Canadian girlfriend is (you wouldn't know her, she goes to a different school) yet no one can produce a single photograph of her much less of her and Bruce together.

I wouldn’t trust Frank and I especially wouldn’t take his word for anything. He’s a bigger liar than Steven Seagal and that’s saying something.

It's obvious that his stories are fake and he is a compulsive liar. But.....Without him, we wouldn't have had the Blood Sport movie when we were kids. That movie was a part of making so many young people interested in martial arts and inspiring them to begin training. It did for me. Very good...but brick don't hit back !

Brice Lee didn’t fight opponents in real life. He didn’t compete. He did act. He was a martial “artist”. The Bruce Lee conversation goes south when people say that he was deadly, that he was the best. He was a martial arts actor. No one can take that from him because he was good at that job.

Steven segal is using the limited techniques of aikijustu; that aikido founder originally incorporated in his art later discarded; so depending on your aikido Instructor you could be taught early disable and death techniques.

The funny thing is, "kumite" literally just means "meeting hands" in Japanese. But it's really nothing more than "sparring" in English. Leaving aside ludicrous claims of some ultimate underground fighting championship, which anyone who knows the real history of martial arts in Japan knows is utter BS, the mere idea that it was called "The Sparring" makes it sound ridiculous. You could get away with this BS in the 60s and 70s, but not today.

I think Shannon Lee is doing a great job protecting her father's legacy but should give room for others to tell their version. Her father died when she was about four so she can't tell an accurate picture of his life by herself

I trained with Frank a long time ago in the San Fernando Valley. I liked him, I saw some of his fights and he was very fast and very good. This was before MMA but I hear stories about his MMA encounters. Frank was a good guy, I enjoyed hanging out with him.

Ok, but the JCVD movie was cool. 👍 Now, Frank Dux may or may not be FOS, but on the other hand, the wiki warriors are absolutely FOS. These are 24/7 internerds who obtain every shred of their knowledge and beliefs from wikipedia, sherdog, etc. You could tell them the sky is blue, and they'll hit wikipedia, find something that says the sky is paisley, and argue about it for years.

In all my time in and around the military, I've never met an actual badass who felt the need to tell anyone they were a badass. I only know I met a PJ because someone else told me; he never mentioned it, we talked about video games the hour or so we sat at the bar.
